In far too many countries around the world, natural disaster and disease are taking a terrible toll. UNICEF is on the front lines of these emegencies, from Haiti to Pakistan, distributing clean water, emergency relief, and other lifesaving services.

Oral rehydration salts (ORS) are packets containing salt, sugar, and clean water. They cost just eight cents each, but they have the power to save children from diseases like cholera. Haiti is the latest country to experience a fatal outbreak of the disease, which is also killing children in DR Congo, Benin, and Pakistan.

UNICEF is doing all it can to provide relief to areas of disaster and keep children safe. An anonymous donor has pledged to contribute one ORS package for everyone who signs up to receive the U.S. Fund for UNICEF's e-newsletter.
