Project Peril: Help Save the Andean Cat
SKU: SKU: SK-133361
The Andean cat is one of the rarest and least-known cats in the world. This majestic creature lives exclusively in the Andes Mountains and Patagonia steppe, where climates are harsh and food is scarce. Sadly, due to human factors such as mining, hunting, and unregulated tourism, the Andean cat population is rapidly decreasing—with estimates of fewer than 2,800 remaining today. With their habitat isolated to the high desert of the Andes, land conservation is critical to the survival of their species.
We must do what we can to save the Andean Cat. Thanks to an opportunity from Wildlife Conservation Society, GreaterGood.org is working with our local partners at Fundación Vida Sylvestre to purchase 115,000 acres of this crucial habitat to conserve into perpetuity. This high desert region is home to unique wildlife including the Guanaco, Andean Condors, Geoffrey's Cat—and of course the Andean cat. We have already been able to successfully secure 40,000 acres of land in this beautiful region, but we need your help to protect the remaining 75,000 acres that is available!
Your help is needed URGENTLY! Your donation will go to Project Peril, a GreaterGood.org program to help save the Andean Cat.
About Project Peril:
Project Peril is a new program of GreaterGood.org to protect the world's most threatened species. Whether tall like a giraffe or small like a bee, all life deserves a fighting chance in a world increasingly threatened by human influences. Project Peril identifies these key species on the brink of extinction and helps fund groups doing the best work to save these species around the world.
