Thanks To A Foster Family Program, Senior Dog Receives Needed Medical Care To Find Forever Home

Give a BIG Shout-Out! to Old Dog Haven Giving A Senior Dog The Chance To Find A Loving Home!

Life wasn't easy for Rosie, a senior shelter dog with a disfigured ear and damaged face. She was experiencing intense pain due to a long-term infection in her ear, and her age and the cost to help her were daunting.

With love and support from Old Dog Haven, a network of private homes helping Western Washington's homeless senior dogs, a caring foster family took Rosie into their home. Old Dog Haven's Maranda Fund, set aside specifically for major procedures in order to give dogs like Rosie a chance for a happy retirement, helped fund vital surgery. The surgical specialist removed her ear canal and ear flap, which were beyond repair, to ease the pain and allow Rosie to live a more comfortable life.

"Getting her well enough for the big surgery and watching her be CURED was really an emotional journey," said Judith Piper, Old Dog Haven Executive Director. "I'm proud to say Rosie is the most beautiful one-eared yellow dog around! Soon after her surgery, Rosie was adopted by a loving family with an older golden retriever, and "she quickly settled into a happy routine with walks, visits to the horse stable, and lots of love," said Old Dog Haven’s site.

"Old Dog Haven's mission is to get senior dogs (like Rosie) out of shelters, and make sure they live out their lives in loving families," explains Piper. "Most often they stay with us, but when we can help a shelter dog with serious issues become healthy and then be adopted, it’s just a great day!"

**Let's give a big thanks to Old Dog Haven and the families who make it possible for senior dogs like Rosie a second chance at living a happy retirement in a loving home!**
