Take The Breast Cancer Awareness Pledge

Did you know that every 13 minutes a woman dies of breast cancer?

Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women.

Certain breast cancer risk factors are related to personal behaviors, such as diet and exercise. Other lifestyle-related risk factors include decisions about having children and taking medicines that contain hormones1.

Other factors are out of our control.

Some main factors that affect your chance of getting breast cancer include:

  • Being a woman.
  • Being older. Most breast cancers are found in women who are 50 years old or older.
  • Having changes in your BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but it’s always a great time to renew your commitment to the cause.

Show your support to those who are suffering with the disease or who know someone who is. Pledge to learn about breast cancer so you have the tools to help prevent its onset.

Here are some ways you can support those with breast cancer, and reduce your own risk:

  • Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone battling breast cancer. They need your support.
  • Inform your loved ones about Breast Cancer Awareness Month and urge them to visit the doctor often and take care of their bodies.
  • Improve your diet.
  • Exercise more.
  • Volunteer or donate to a breast cancer organization.

Sign the pledge promising to do all you can to make Breast Cancer Awareness Month last all year!

The Petition

I acknowledge that breast cancer is one of the leading killers of women in the United Stats. As a supporter of those living with breast cancer, survivors, and their allies, I pledge to observe National Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October by:

* Reaching out to support someone battling breast cancer.
* Informing my loved ones about Breast Cancer Awareness Month and urging them to visit the doctor often and take care of their bodies.
* Improving my diet.
* Exercising more.
* Volunteering or donating to a breast cancer organization.

I am taking this pledge because I know that every 13 minutes a woman dies of breast cancer. So many women are affected by this disease, and I want to do my part to support them, as best I can.
