**A major international climate change initiative, bigger than the Kyoto treaty and involving many more nations, is coming in December.** Scientists predict global warming will lead to extreme catastrophes worldwide if unchecked, including severe effects felt in the United States. The U.S., one of the largest producers of greenhouse gas emissions, is hedging, and Congress is failing to produce real legislation to stop global warming.
