Having a child with cancer is one of the most frightening experiences a parent could have. By the same token, it is a call to rejoice when a child becomes a survivor of this deadly disease. But some don't realize it's not all smooth sailing following a clean bill of health.

Children with cancer often experience long-term side effects from the disease, its treatment, or both. So even if the cancer isn't present anymore, children can encounter harmful side effects like infertility later in life, poor memory, heart problems, and more. It can cause a lifetime of physical consequences.

That's why it's important that children who survive cancer know they will always have access to care they need. The Pediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Survivorship Research and Quality of Life Act would ensure funding for childhood cancer victims for life.
