The country of Burma is currently experiencing one of the worst health crises the world has yet seen. Almost 50% of the country's children are malnourished. Malaria continues to ravage the population. Maternal mortality rates are through the roof.
In addition to the health situation, human rights are being severely assaulted. Forced labor is a huge problem in Burma, with children being forced into sweatshops and slave labor at young ages. Women are sexually violated and the military regime oppresses the Burmese. There is simply no escape.
We need to focus efforts on helping Burma out of this crisis and addressing the health problems that plague the nation.
