Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control is a private non-profit organization dedicated to helping save the lives of Chicago's neediest animals--those taken in by our city's underfunded municipal shelter. We provide much needed medical equipment, foster help, community pet food programs, volunteer coordination, and emergency medical help for seriously injured or ill animals brought in by Animal Control Officers when the shelter's own vet staff is off duty. This past year we have served 55 animals suffering from severe bite wounds, near-fatal smoke inhalation, fractured bones, burns from acid attacks, injured eyes, torn tongues, skin damage from lethal hair matting, damaging ear destruction/infection, starvation, and much more.
