We are a 501c3 non-profit organization that has been together since 1977. We started out with volunteers only and now have three paid employees who take care of up to 100 animals at a time. We are strictly donation based and have to fundraise for any additional things we would like to do such as our current project, building new large dog kennels. We are based in a tiny town in north central Texas about 30 minutes from the Oklahoma border called Vernon. Our population is around 11,000 people. We do the best we can to provide for all the animals in our care until they are adopted but we always run short when it comes to supplies, food, treats, and toys. We also offer a low cost spay/neuter clinic for our county and those surrounding us, in order to help reduce the rates of unwanted and abandoned pets.

Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site are joining NBC and Telemundo stations’ Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign to support shelters and rescues across the country by encouraging individuals to donate funds to help animal welfare groups with the most critical needs.

Each summer, shelters and rescues face an added stress on their resources from increases in puppy and kitten intakes due to spring litters. In 2021 shelters are reporting higher than normal intake rates, with unprecedented overpopulation in some areas. They need you now.

Beginning on Tuesday, August 31 at 12pm PT, Hill’s Pet Nutrition is again matching all donations dollar for dollar up to $25,000. All gifts will be doubled until the match runs out! Starting at noon PT on that day, a $25,000 total pool will be made available.
