Since 1981, our volunteer-run organization has provided lifesaving programs to cats and dogs, and outreach services to our community. Scott County Humane Society (SCHS) does not have an intake facility for animals being surrendered by homes or for abandoned animals in the community. Instead, our organization works closely on a daily basis with the Scott County Animal Care and Control, a county-run, open admission facility for all abandoned or unwanted animals. We work to save and better lives through successful cat and dog foster and adoption programs, a pet food bank, spay and neuter programs and our Adoption Center in Georgetown. Our goals are to save more lives through spay and neuter, adoption placement and providing resources to help homes keep their pets forever so no pet ever finds itself homeless or with their life in jeopardy. We are also fundraising to build a new Adoption Center on land we now own. Any donations are greatly appreciated!

Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site are joining NBC and Telemundo stations’ Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign to support shelters and rescues across the country by encouraging individuals to donate funds to help animal welfare groups with the most critical needs.

Each summer, shelters and rescues face an added stress on their resources from increases in puppy and kitten intakes due to spring litters. In 2021 shelters are reporting higher than normal intake rates, with unprecedented overpopulation in some areas. They need you now.

Every bit counts. Search for your local shelter or rescue below and make a direct donation to support them. The Animal Rescue Site is covering 100% of credit card transaction fees so 100% goes to help.

Beginning on Tuesday, August 31 at 12pm PT, Hill’s Pet Nutrition is again matching all donations dollar for dollar up to $25,000. All gifts will be doubled until the match runs out! Starting at noon PT on that day, a $25,000 total pool will be made available.
