Memphis Animal Services is the municipal shelter serving the city of Memphis and portions of Shelby County. MAS works to keep people and pets safe by enforcing animal care and control laws, helping families keep pets they love, caring for homeless pets, and achieving positive outcomes for the pets in its care. Having saved nearly 90 percent of the pets in its care for the past two years, MAS envisions a day when no healthy, adoptable pet dies in the MidSouth due to lack of space or resources, every owned pet is well loved and cared for, and no citizen's safety is put at risk by irresponsible pet ownership.

Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site are joining NBC and Telemundo stations’ Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign to support shelters and rescues across the country by encouraging individuals to donate funds to help animal welfare groups with the most critical needs.

Each summer, shelters and rescues face an added stress on their resources from increases in puppy and kitten intakes due to spring litters. In 2021 shelters are reporting higher than normal intake rates, with unprecedented overpopulation in some areas. They need you now.
