Hancock County Humane Society in Greenfield, IN | Clear The Shelters

The Hancock County Humane Society is staffed entirely by volunteers and funded by donations. All fundraisers during the last 4 months of 2019 were cancelled due to an outbreak of ringworm. Our shelter had just reopened when COVID19 hit, and we were forced to close again. All our scheduled fundraisers for 2020 were cancelled. Most of our fundraisers involved restaurants and they were closed or struggling to stay open. We have worked to identify other types of fundraisers. We will have to make some cuts in our budget, but health and well-being of the cats in our care remains our top priority. Our shelter cares for 45-50 animals at any one time. Our local animal control facility and county shelter has temporarily relocated to a small facility while their new building is under construction. Currently they only have space for about 15 cats. We have been taking cats that are sick or injured and they are unable to treat. We can use donations to help with medical costs for these cats.

Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site are joining NBC and Telemundo stations’ Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign to support shelters and rescues across the country by encouraging individuals to donate funds to help animal welfare groups with the most critical needs.
