Fah Mui was born in southern Thailand. The first 50 years of her life were spent working for a logging camp, at which point she was sold to a new owner who used her for tourist rides. If there were no tourists, Fah Mui was put back to work pulling logs. Lately, her health has been up and down, mostly due to old age and overwork. She can't do much work as her ankles do not support her well to pull heavy loads. Fah Mui, a wild elephant, has been put to work her whole life. She deserves to live the rest of her life in peace, in a sanctuary.
Fah Mui is just one example of 200 elephants being forced to work who deserve to live in peace, in a sanctuary. Help us rescue them!
A team of elephant rescuers, led by world-renowned Asian elephant conservationist Lek Chailert, is ready to rescue 200 elephants and bring them to freedom. Once in one of Lek's sanctuaries, these elephants will receive medical care, proper nourishment, love, and a peaceful, joyous life with other rescued Asian elephants.
Lek and her team have saved many captive elephants. The documentary film Love & Bananas: An Elephant Story, exposes the plight of Asian elephants, but the film focuses on hope and the people who work tirelessly to save these gentle behemoths and to raise public awareness of their plight.
Your donation helps rescue elephants in desperate need like Fah Mui, and will also buy more land to expand the sanctuary, with a focus on rescuing Asian elephants from abuse and exploitation.
