Pet Oxygen Kits to Save Fire Victims
Pet Oxygen Kits to Save Fire Victims
SKU: SKU: SK-136636
Oxygen is needed immediately on scene for pets that are pulled out of house fires. Most fire departments do not have the budget to equip fire trucks with equipment needed to save a pet's life. Without oxygen masks, fire fighters struggle to resuscitate pets that they save from fires.
The Pet Oxygen Kit Project is an educational and public safety organization dedicated to providing pet oxygen kits to equip every fire truck across South Carolina. They are tackling the issue one county at a time. The organization provides educational materials to firefighters and equips each truck with pet oxygen kits so firefighters can save the entire family!
You can help!? Just $5 goes towards saving a pet fire victim with a oxygen kit.
Update from the Field
January 2017
The CFD responded to a residential structure fire in the 8000 block of Songbird Dr. where units arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the home. During the fight to get the fire under control a dog was found in the home unresponsive. After firefighters were able to remove the dog, a Richland County EMS crew administered oxygen to the dog by using a pet oxygen mask provided by The Pet Oxygen Kit Project. Thanks to outstanding efforts by all involved, the dog was successfully resuscitated and has since been reunited with his owner. Thanks to GreaterGood.org for helping raise an additional 47 oxygen masks for this project, emergency personal can continue to save animal lives!
The Pet Oxygen Kit Project is a 501(c)3 organization. Their mission is to provide a pet oxygen kit for every fire truck in South Carolina. 100% of all contributions will be used for purchasing and distributing the kits to fire departments statewide.
