Help young women and children stay healthy and strong while the search for a cure to HIV/AIDS continues.
In Kenya, many families afflicted with HIV/AIDS struggle to stay healthy. Some vulnerable households lack necessary farming inputs, such as seedlings and tools, while others do not have access to arable land for producing crops. Apart from meeting the specific needs of young children, good nutrition is critically important for households affected by HIV/AIDS.
Grassroots Alliance for Community Education helps households start kitchen gardens that provide a sustained source of vegetables and other crops. Community members without access to arable land can grow vegetables in sacks of soil while families that have access to arable land receive seedlings, soil and tools. In no time, families are able to grow vegetables within their homesteads. In addition to helping their neighbors, program participants sell their surplus for increased household income. Kitchen gardens are a great way to improve food production and health status among vulnerable households.
You can help. Just $10.00 provides enough seeds and soil to an entire household.
The mission of Grassroots Alliance for Community Education is to build the capacity of community based organizations to implement self-determined, high impact and sustainable initiatives for better health and development.
