Return Orphaned Orangutans to the Wild

You can help orphaned orangutans grow big and strong - ensuring their successful return to the rainforest, wild and free again!

Every day, Borneo's rainforests are being cut down, leaving many orangutans homeless. Mother orangutans are often killed and their babies are captured and sold as pets. Orphaned orangutans are rescued by Orangutan Foundation International (OFI) and brought to their Orangutan Care Center located in Central Kalimantan (Borneo, Indonesia). Most orphans come to the Care Center injured, hungry, and scared. There, they receive medical care, food, love, and specialized training to prepare them for release back into the wild. Orphaned babies need OFI's special help until they are eight-years-old. Caring for more than 330 orangutans in the Care Center is an expensive, round-the-clock effort, requiring large amounts of food, medical supplies, and special equipment. Every day orangutan caregivers take the orphans into the forest where they are free to play while learning to survive in the wild.
