When natural disasters strike they do so without regard for species. News stories often cover the people displaced or injured by disaster, but seldom show the whole picture - disasters affect animals too!

Animals need rescuing when faced with storms, floods, fires, or earthquakes, just like people. They may need physical rescue from flood waters or debris. They may need immediate medical attention, hydration, or food. They may lose their homes, their families and need to relocate. Humane organizations and first responders in disaster zones are their chances of survival. Working collaboratively to bring needed funding to these animal heroes is the best way to meet immediate needs of those pets that are in danger.
